High-quality protein for feeds that promote circular economy

Honkajoki Oy produces protein meals from the meat production side streams from animals which have been inspected and approved by veterinarians for food use. This is a responsible choice for feeding animals.

Nutritious pet food ingredient

Protein meals from high-quality side streams are a responsible ingredient choice when producing pet foods. These nutrients are natural for dogs and cats, and the amino acid composition of animal proteins meets perfectly the needs of the pets.

Responsible choice for animal feeds

Protein meals can replace imported soy in animal feeds, and as a circular economy product they are superior protein sources when looking into the carbon footprint calculations. Animal by-products also help in decreasing the use of virgin mineral phosphorus.

Solutions for fish feeds

Circular economy products provide high-quality protein sources for making responsible fish feeds. The phosphorus content of feather meal is particularly low.

Feather meal

Very protein-rich and highly digestible physically hydrolyzed feather meal. A protein source that enhances the overall utilization of poultry production. Hydrolysis process makes the protein highly digestible; pepsin digestibility in the product is over 80%. Very low ash content. The raw material comes from Finnish chicken and turkeys. High proportion of chicken feathers coming from antibiotic-free production in Finland ensures exceptionally clean raw material.

Circular economy for a better tomorrow

Why is the circular economy important?

Limited natural resources and population growth are the most significant challenges of our time. For our part, we want to help food production operators use circular economy methods that ensure the recycling of nutrients and the maximum use of resources without losing valuable nutrients.
